My work explores moments where familiarity begins to fracture, allowing hidden aspects of the self to surface through connection. In Smoke Break, mirrored figures exist somewhere between reflection and encounter, capturing a moment where guardedness begins to dissolve and both individuals are able to exist without performance. What appears to be an ordinary exchange becomes a quiet confrontation with the parts of ourselves we keep hidden and the rare comfort of having those parts understood.
